Crest wildfire swept through the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego,
California. Residents were allowed back to their homes after the blaze
erupted 26 October, destroying over 100 homes in the area. Seventeen
fires raging across southern California have overrun more than 246,400
hectares (616,000 acres), burned 2,125 homes and killed at least 20
