Mediterranean Total Solar Eclipse Cruise
March 2006
Our ship, the Costa Classica, departed from Savona, Italy (west of Genoa) on March 21, 2006. The ship made port calls at Rome, Italy; Alexandria, Egypt; Limassol, Cyprus; Rhodes, Greece; Antalya, Turkey; and Naples, Italy, before returning to Savona. We observed the total solar eclipse on the ship on March 29, 2006, on the centerline at 33°09.2´N, 026°43.4´E, where totality lasted 3 minutes, 55 seconds, at an elevation of 60 degrees above the horizon.
